Deer at Metro

Originally uploaded by Coryrain
I knew that there were deer at Metro Beach, but I had never actually seen them. I've been walking the nature trail off and on this summer working on my photography, but I was never there at the right time of day to see deer, not to mention I don't exactly walk quietly through the place. I was coming back up to the parking lot yesterday when I happened to spot this little doe just chilling off the path. At 3pm! She sat there patiently while I walked around snapping photos and I managed to get a decent one! She was still sitting there when I left. Someday I'll post something besides nature shots, I swear! Nature makes for a very patient subject so it's good to practice with. :)

Harrowing Winter Wheat

Attempt at a panorama. This was cropped into this view and messed with the lvls a little bit in photoshop. Taken in sepia tone at the time.

I love Greenfield Village but it can be very hard to take photos without some tourist ending up in your shot. Nothing like Uncle Jimmy and his bermuda shorts ruining you photo. The far right of this photo showed a walkway with visitors walking on it. I'm trying to get better at cropping and following the rule of thirds. I think I'm getting better. At least I hope I am.

Oh! And check out my sister in laws website for some awesome nature photography www.hubinsky.com

No Swimming

No Swimming
Originally uploaded by Coryrain
Phil and I headed to Metro Beach last weekend, or maybe it was two weeks ago, anyways, and had ourselves a nice walk.
Someone was doing a professional photoshoot in the lake with a model. Though I don't know who in their right mind would voluntarily get in that water.

Is there ever a lifeguard on duty there?

Bumblebee!

bumblebee
Originally uploaded by Coryrain
It was a lovely day today so I headed on over to Metro Beach to wander the nature trails. There was a ton of wildlife out and about, most of which I got horrible photos of, like that muskrat thing that almost ran me over and that heron that was just too far away, but this little bumblebee didn't care that I was all in his face snapping away.

Taken with macro mode so I was VERY close to the bumblebee. ^.^

And to top it off, this shot includes a flower I had taken another photo of which looked great on the camera screen but was utter crap when I got it into photoshop at home, so redemption!!

Ah, Renaissance Festival....so expensive, so dusty, so hot....damn I want to own that!!! I love this photo.....well mostly because I love the bodice, but it came out so clear and I love that you can see some other dresses in the back as well and SHOCKINGLY there isn't some white trash tourist standing in the shot!! I unfortunatly did not get the best part of the item in the image, the bottom of the bodice at the waist says "Uncharted Territory". Lol. As always, I am easily amused. A few more shots and some video of Ren Fest are up at Flickr.

Lomo

This was a rather dull shot of a field at Stoney Creek Metro Park. But I decided to fool around with it and lomo-ized it. It's a fun effect and is stupid easy to do in digital processing.

Other great Stoney Creeks shots can be found at my flickr page. Some of them Phil took!

Matt and his Team

Matt and his Team
Originally uploaded by Coryrain
This is cheating. :) This photo was taken sometime last year, looks like in the spring from the state of the field. This is Matt driving the manure wagon. The orginal photo was very washed out since everything was still dead and it was very overcast that day. I changed it to b&w in photoshop and decided to keep his jacket in color since it was a nice red.

I had plenty of fun taking shots of the fireworks my dad and brother set off. It took a while to get the camera set to take night photos, long exposure time meant I missed alot of shots, but I still managed to grab some good ones. Head on over to the flickr set to see a few more firework shots and some shots Phil took of us being idiots with sparklers.

And to note this one also had no photoshopping done on it, just resized.

Now that I finally decided what to do with this blog it's time to get started!
Phil's parents got us a fabulous digital camera for our wedding and I don't use it enough. Truthfully it has so many buttons and options I was terrfied I would just lock the damn thing up forever. But through trial and error I finally feel confident enough to start posting my images online. (it seriously took months before I stopped taking nothing but blurry photos!) So to start this off I give you the photo that took me the longest to take. This was taken at Motor Muster at Greenfield Village. Motor Muster is a massive car show with thousands of people visiting over the weekend. This photo took me ten minutes to take because people would NOT stop walking in front of me. Not to mention the Model-T's drive up and down that road and it was 90 outside that day. Yes please I enjoy standing in the blazing sun waiting for your butts to get the hell out of my way while I sweat to death.

Anyways, this was taken in sepia tone and not edited in anyway, just resized.
Many more photos from Motor Muster are up on my flickr site

I blaim Scott for this

Cause you know I really needed another blog.  Actually I had a livejournal account for about four years, but most of the people I blogged with there have moved onto myspace or blogger or have left the internet for good.  Figured it couldn't hurt to test out a new service.
